When we first went to it we drove past it because a car was parked in front of the sign which was sitting down on the ground. Inside was right and clean with large windows looking out onto the street. Overall the inside had a very comfortable feel to it.
The night manager at the local hotel recommended this restaurant for breakfast. She said it is where all the locals go.
A great place to eat good food good company and great people
We ate in a relaxing atmosphere and greatly enjoyed our breakfast. For two omelets and two cups of coffee the total bill was $18.02 including tax.
Sara and her staff are really the best in Kingwood. Everything they offer is hand made, from scratch the same day. The only downside to DHD, is the lack of debt card, Or CC machine. You have to use an ATM in the corner, or bring cash.
The food was outstanding. My wife ordered a Spanish omelette while I ordered the meat lovers omelet. Mine included the option of homemade bread.
People are friendly. Food is great. Ask for "the real sausage" with your buckwheat cakes...
I have eaten @ the Down Home Diner only one time. The restaurant itself really lacks "inviting atmospher", but I do have to say the food was GOOD.
